CANBERRA, Dec 5 AAP - The main stories in today's Canberra Times:



Page 1: Rudd vows to override his party's powerful faction system as he attempts to
choose his own front bench. Fiji's military disarms the country's police force and throws
up roadblocks around Suva in what Aust believes is coup by stealth.



Page 2: Labor states are refusing to soften their stance against the expansion of uranium
mining, despite federal opposition MPs supporting a govt push to take them on over the
issue.



Page 3: Defence terminates tender process for the upgrade of its troubled integrated
personnel system, PMKeys, after rejecting only remaining bid for the project from Oracle.

Howard will examine bipartisan report that calls for overhaul of health funding and the
commonwealth to chip in to pay for ailing public dental services.



World: Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, who won re-election by a large margin, loses
little time in taunting Bush during a balcony victory speech (Caracas). Nine more US troops
