M2 PRESSWIRE-5 July 1999-CANDLE: Candle appoints March Intranet as Business Partner to target e-business response time monitoring market (C)1994-99 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

RDATE:020799

Candle Corporation, a leading vendor of systems and applications management software, has appointed March Intranet as a Business Partner. The partnership agreement provides Candle with a distribution channel into the exploding e-business market and allows March Intranet to offer the first monitoring software that provides a true measure of the customer experience of a web or e-commerce site. e-Businesses can now identify where they are failing and losing existing and potential customers. Candle's eBA*ServiceMonitor helps them to adjust the design, navigation path and infrastructure of their web sites to maximise the efficiency of their interface in the e-market place.

Candle's Strategic Alliances Manager Nigel Warwick says: "With our response time management products - especially in the Internet arena - we need partners who have experience and access to the rapidly growing e-business market place. Analysts are currently predicting that enterprise-class web usage analysis tool sales will more than (double from approximately $15 million in 1998 to approximately $35 million by the end of 1999. This represents an exciting opportunity and we are confident that our relationship with March Intranet will capture an important share of this market."

Amongst the Candle products that March Intranet will distribute are eBA*ServiceMonitor and ETEWatch. March Intranet's Managing Director Paul Smith comments: "We have been looking for state-of-the art products to provide analysis of the performance of web-based applications from a user's perspective - rather than from the "outside". eBA*ServiceMonitor is non-intrusive and captures users' routes through applications and the time spent on pages while ETEWatch monitors an application's response time, sending alerts if something is wrong. These and other products from Candle's portfolio will enable our customers to gain greater value from intranet-based and Internet-based solutions and enhance our reputation as a supplier that is able to offer the best possible products and expertise."

March Intranet has established itself as a notable supplier of intranet-based products, including Kick Start Foundation (a ready-to-go corporate intranet solution) and Kick Start Telephony (on intranet-based Computer Telephony application). March Intranet is one of a number of companies chosen by Candle to distribute their products into important niche markets.

In 1996, Candle expanded its focus to encompass solutions for networked businesses, helping customers develop, deploy, connect, integrate, secure and manage middleware- based solutions that support large-scale, networked business environments. eBA ServiceMonitor shows web site response times and usage patterns from an end-user's perspective, providing information on total response time, total server time, load time, network time and resolve time. It measures true performance experienced by visitors to web sites and reports actual data, capturing information on response time both at the Web server and at the end-user desktop, without installing any code on the user desktop. Based on patent-pending technology, ETEWatch monitors the response time of a web-based application, measuring exactly the time it takes a transaction to complete a round trip - from the moment it starts and as it travels through the network, to the servers and back to the desktop. This end-to-end response time is collected and displayed in graphical views or stored in a database for summary and reporting.

Kick Start Foundation is an advanced document management and low administration intranet product, which uses existing file structures and document archives and operates through an organisation's local area network. It empowers users to manage an intranet - which can be tailored to reflect corporate requirements - through a standard Internet browser. Kick Start Telephony combines "thin client" intranet technology with affordable telephony products. Using point-and-click displays, it enables any company now to consider using new-generation technology for call centres, out-bound telemarketing, sales lead management and other business functions.
