I KNOW internet bloggers have taken up name suppression as their cause celebre _ but after the hoo-ha surrounding the suppression of a high profile 46-year-old charged with disorderly behaviour over Christmas, I have to comment.
Especially given that for a nanosecond I was implicated. A friend of mine rang to say her heart had leapt in her mouth until she read that it was a man who'd been arrested.
Some of the many high profile 46-year-old men in the country have come forward to say it wasn't them _ eventually it will be a process of elimination. Either everybody should have name suppression until they're found guilty or nobody should.
That way it doesn't look like the rich and famous are being favoured _ although the media have a very broad interpretation of what constitutes a celebrity.
