Cyprus fully backs Bosnia's EU membership bid

NICOSIA, Cyprus (AP) — Cyprus' foreign minister says the island nation fully supports the Bosnia-Herzegovina's bid for European Union membership.

Markos Kyprianou says Cyprus would like to see Bosnia become a member of the bloc as soon as possible.

Bosnian Foreign Minister Sven Alkalaj says his country will seek Cypriot advice on its EU accession bid.

Cyprus joined the EU in 2004.

Alkalaj says the two countries also agreed to boost economic ties.

The two officials made the remarks on Wednesday after talks in the Cypriot capital.
