SA: Sixth summer fruit fly outbreak in Adelaide confirmed
South Australia's Primary Industries and Resources department has confirmed the sixth
mediterranean fruit fly outbreak in suburban Adelaide this summer.
The latest outbreak was confirmed after a householder in Parkside in Adelaide's inner
south-east discovered maggots in home-grown peaches on Saturday.
PIRSA plant health chief inspector DAVID CARTWRIGHT says other fruit fly outbreaks
have been reported this summer in the Adelaide suburbs of Millswood, Walkerville, Daw
Park, Prospect and Torrens Park.
He says residents in the Parkside area have been notified of the latest outbreak and
eradication treatment will continue for six weeks.
