QLD: Missing woman's husband leaves notes for police

GOLD COAST, Aug 19 AAP - The husband of a missing Gold Coast woman is playing a catand mouse game with police, leaving rambling notes for investigators but refusing to meetin person with them.
Police hold grave fears for Julie Rose Nicholson, 48, who has been missing for almosta month but today the investigation shifted to finding her husband Clive, who is believedto be driving a white rented van somewhere on the tourist strip.
Detective Inspector Ken Bemi confirmed Mr Nicholson had avoided contact with policesince last Friday and had failed to arrive for an arranged interview yesterday. Instead,he left hand written notes that were handed to police. Early this morning another two-pageletter from Mr Nicholson was found at a police station.
"It's not unique but it's just the method Mr Nicholson has chosen (to communicate withpolice)," said Inspector Bemi.
"We are certainly concerned for his well-being and we are very eager to locate him."
Inspector Bemi said the letter contained a description of events in Mr Nicholson'slife but no clues to his wife's whereabouts.
Police fear Mrs Nicholson may have been murdered.
Forensic tests are underway on clothing, carpet, two cars and building equipment seizedfrom the Nicholson's luxury home in Southport.
Mr Nicholson reported his wife as a missing person on July 23, two days after he claimedhe had returned home from work to find her gone. The couple's four-year-old daughter isbeing cared for by relatives.
